All matching numbers in the 3xxx serial range and original in every other respect down to the last screw. Lock plate crisply stamped “GWYN & CAMPBELL/PATENT/1862/HAMILTON, O.”. In exceptionally fine condition with 90% plus original blue on the barrel and most of the case hardening colors on the frame. Breech block and upper tang with the original blue and lock plate with minor blue and patina mixed. Stock with the original finish and a mint U.S. Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche. Underside of frame and barrel with Regimental rack number stamp “37”. Working order and excellent bore. U.S. Volunteer Cavalry units from Missouri, Ohio, Iowa, Kansas, Illinois and Kentucky were armed with 1st Model Gwyn & Campbell Carbines. Only 4000 made. SOLD Antique: Yes |
