20th Century Top Break Revolver
Here we present a Howard Arms Company Top Break Revolver in .38, made in Chicago, Illinois. Howard Arms was a Trade Name used by Fred Biffar Co. of Chicago, Illinois. The name was used on firearms furnished by Meridan Firearms Company. There some mystery of who actually made Meridan firearms. Were arms actually made by Meridan, or was Meridan simply a “Paper Company”. Most people who have researched this believe that Meridan was actually Sears & Roebuck. In 1905, Sears was already a well established mail order house. It is believed that the Meridan Firearms Company was established to produce guns solely for Sears itself. Regardless, there seems to be no comparative fire arm parts that will interchange with the firearm.
The overall condition is near fine. The nickel finish is 90% complete. The markings are clear and legible. The hard rubber grips are in great shape, showing little to no wear. The bore has strong rifling. The action on this revolver is excellent.
