Description:

ANCHOR Mark REMINGTON Rolling Block .50-70 CARBINE

Interesting 19th Century Military Rifle!

Here we present an antique Remington Rolling Block Military Carbine, made circa the 1870s in Ilion, New York. The Remington Rolling Block had a sturdy, simple action that was relatively inexpensive, just what many governments wanted in the latter half of the 19th Century. They were popular with civilians as well.

This one is an old military piece that features an anchor marking over the breech and a crown marking on the butt plate tang. There is a number on the left side of the breech and another on the bottom of the butt stock. There is a blank brass disc located in the right side of the butt stock.

The overall condition is good. The barrel still bears a lot of blue finish. The forearm is dark while the butt stock is lighter in color and repaired at the wrist. The bore is bright and shiny with good rifling. The action is strong.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 23-1/4 inches.

Caliber: .50-70 GOVT
