Description:
Whitney-Kennedy, Mdl 1879 Rifle. Cal 44-40, Ser. 42XX. This is a very early example of the scarce lever action rifle from the famous inventor of the Cotton Gin and "Interchageable Parts Manufacturing". This 140 year old hunter is in really remarkable condition. While it does not retain any of the original blue the gun has aged to a pleasant silver gray patina. There is no real rust, rub marks or scratches any where. However there a several small patches of scattered pin pricks. The lever and lower tang match. The walnut stock and forearm have retained about 75-80% of the original factory lacquer. There are no splits, chips or dings on either of them. The bore is very nice, lightly frosted but with well defined rifling. The gun locks up tight and operates properly. It should be a nice investment, a great addition to your collection and real fun on the range. And we guarantee you will be pleased with your purchase.......Shipped...... $1895.
