Description:
THis is a very nice Otis A. Smith Pocket Revolver No. 41 or in .41 RF Caliber. serial #2332, 41 RF, 2 3/4'' round barrel with an about very good to excellent bore showing a few spots of light pitting and strong rifling throughout. The metal surfaces of this revolver retain about 97% original nickel finish with most of the loss due to light flaking and toning to gray patina along the edges of the cylinder and topstrap, light scratches and a few spots of minor clouding. The cylinder retainer housing shows some nice case-hardened colors toning to gray patina, the trigger has toned to smooth gray and the hammer shows bold case-hardened colors. The smooth walnut grips are pencil-numbered to the gun and remain in excellent condition retaining almost all of their original varnish showing a few minor flakes and handling marks. The cylinder and barrel are un-numbered but the cylinder retainer housing is numbered to the gun. The action functions crisply with solid timing and lockup. This is really an excellent example of these interesting and somewhat rare revolvers that use a plunger-style cylinder retainer that allows for quick removal of the cylinder and is reminiscent of the system later employed by Smith & Wesson.
