Rare Colt 1860 Army "FLUTED CYLINDER" Civil War REVOLVER Serial Number , 3941. Caliber. 44. Smooth Brown and Grey patina colored with 7-1/2″ round barrel 6-shot full fluted cylinder with brass trigger guard and steel back strap containing a 1-piece walnut grip. All metal ,serial numbered parts ,are all matching! "PATENTED SEPT.10TH 1850" is in one of the flutes on cylinder. Frame is 4-screw style cut for should stock with flat head hammer screw . There were only about 4,000 of these rare revolvers produced as part of the early production of the early Model 1860. Accompanied by a copy of a Colt factory letter identifying this revolver with 7-1/2″ bbl, blue finish, walnut stocks and sold to "J.C. Grubb & Company/Philadelphia, Pennsylvania/August 18, 1861". in a shipment of 123 same type guns. Nice Walnut Grip is sound as refinished. Showing some shrinkage from age. Mechanics are fine, strong bore with sharp rifling and moderate to heavy pitting.Buyer pays $20.00 shipping to lower 48 states.
