Payment Types Accepted: Credit Card, Money Order, and Cashier's Check Description: This Colt was produced in 1883. The pistol's serial number is 96041. It is correctly U.S. marked on the frame. David F. Clark (D.F.C.) is the government inspector for this time frame. This Colt was also inspected in shop by John E. Greer ( G ) who was a ordnance inspector during this time. The factory letter states that this Colt was sold to the United States Government. It was delivered to the United States Government inspector located at the Colt plant August 10th 1883 with 150 other pistols. This Colt is in it's original condition. It has not been restored or redone. The original hammer has all of the cocks intact with no damage or recutting. The timing is very fine and distinct. The action is in excellent condition. The bore and chambers are very fine with no pitting or erosion. The screws are in very good condition. All the parts are original to this Colt. This pistol has all the serial numbers matching including the grips. The barrel has the correct inspector markings as well as the serial number. The bull's eye ejector is in fine condition with no bending or damage. The base pin is in fine condition with the correct holes on each end. The cylinder has all the correct markings as well as the serial number. The grips are intact and not cracked. There is a dent on the right panel with five tiny marks below the dent. The left panel has no issues. The grips show wear, the inspection stamps are worn to unreadable condition. There is strong traces of bluing in protected areas. The frame also has traces of color cased finish in protected areas. The ejector rod housing has strong bluing as well as the barrel on that side. There is no rust or pitting on this Colt. The back strap and trigger guard also show traces of good bluing. The front sight has on the top of the blade some nickel silver added to see the target better. The Action is tight and the assembly of the various parts is tight with no worn fittings or assembly. This is a very fine condition Cavalry Colt that has survived the Indian Wars and the various government rebuild programs in it's original factory condition. There is only a handful of original as issued Cavalry Colts still in existence today. This Colt is one of the far better condition pistols to survive today.
