Description:

“1861” INSCRIBED & DATED Antique CHILD’S Musket

“CFS to Charles S. Harper 1861”

Here we present an antique Child-Sized Miniature French Musket, Inscribed “C.F.S. to Charles S. Harper, 1861”, made circa 1860. One can easily imagine this scaled down version of a French musket with such an inscription would have made a very meaningful parting gift from some loved one to a young boy on the eve of his leaving to fight in the American Civil War (1861-1865). This musket includes details such as a bayonet lug on the right side of the barrel for a miniature saber bayonet. This musket resembles several .69 caliber French muskets of the period, such as the Model 1853 Gendarmerie Musketoon.

The overall condition is very good plus. The iron parts are dark with age. The markings are clear. The stock is in great shape. The bore is smooth and dark. The action is excellent. This is not something you see every day and would still make a very meaningful gift for a young person.

Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.

Barrel is 22 inches.

Caliber: .44

Overall condition as seen in photos.
