Description:
This is a very nice engraved Bacon Removable Triggerguard Pocket Revolver. Manf. in the early 1860's , approx. 300 being made! serial #15, 32 RF Short, 4'' octagon barrel with a fair bore showing moderate oxidation and good rifling throughout. While this appears to be the longer frame and cylinder variation, I believe it will only accept the 32 Short cartridge. The metal surfaces of this revolver are mostly a pewter-gunmetal patina showing evidence of a light cleaning long ago with remnants of light pitting and spots of oxidation staining scattered about. The single-line barrel address has softened a little from the cleaning but is still mostly legible and the frame is embellished with the typical light factory foliate scrollwork. The un-numbered smooth walnut grips remain in very good plus condition showing some scattered minor scratches and dings. The barrel, cylinder and triggerguard are all matching the frame and the action seems to function well mechanically with solid timing and lockup.
