FLINTLOCK Pistol-Form FIRE TINDER Lighter
A Neat 18th & 19th Century Gadget to Start a Fire
Here we present a Flintlock Tinder Lighter, made in the 20th Century, based off of 18th and 19th Century design. Flint and steel have long been used to start fires. This little gadget made the task a little easier by putting the tinder in the basket under the frizzen so that, when the trigger was pulled, the flint would create sparks against the frizzen and down into the tinder. This one has a small candelabra so that one could apply a candle to the burning tinder for light or to light other things like a fire or lamp. These would have been found in many a household.
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are taking on a patina. The mechanism is strong.
