Description:
Unit identified Very good condition WWI German Luger in 9mm that is Machine Gun unit marked "180 R.M.G.39." on the inner grip strap. Also has what appears to be soldiers initials. This is a scarce and desirable marking From the 180th Regiment, Machine Gun Company, Weapon #39. The 180th was a Wurttemberg Regiment which only had 10 regiments in the Wurttemberg army at the start of the war. Gun is marked 1913 on the chamber and Erfurt Arsenal made. Pistol has a low serial #1423 with all matching numbers including both grips, correct period magazine is unnumbered. Action is crisp and functions well, hold open does not catch on an empty magazine. Bore is good with average rifling. Original blue metal finish has normal wear with some plum brown with the small parts having traces of the "straw" color. Checkered walnut grips have a tight fit with no cracks or chips. Both grips are matching numbered on the inside. Correct type bright metal magazine is similar condition with a "blank" wood base. An awesome example of the classic WWI German Luger with the rare and desirable Machine Gun Unit Marking and possible soldiers initials. This scarce gun with matching numbers will make a fine addition to a collection or display and is a great research project.
Bought this gun from Larry Eisel. Need to sell off my collection.
