The lock is marked "MIDDTN/CONN/1850" behind the hammer and "US/A.ASTON" ahead of the hammer. The rear of the barrel is stamped just cannot make it out other than a "US." over "S M"/small "A". on the round . Brass furniture with an iron button head swivel ramrod. The wood Is very nice but, has no inspector cartouches. .All brass mountings, brass front sight , brass butt and trigger guard. There is a captive or swivel ramrod. The lock, hammer, trigger and all screws are visible. Smooth bore is in very good condition. Metal shows some corosion on the rear of barrel next to the nipple from black powder.
