Description:
Very good, original C. Sharps patent 4-shot pepperbox, caliber 22 short, with all matching serial numbers on frame, underside of barrel, and inside of grips. This is the model 1C made in the early 1860s during the Civil War and was a popular "hideout" gun. Barrel cluster measures 2 1/2" and the measurement from the end of the frame to the muzzle is just over 1/4". This little guy has excellent, original walnut grips showing only light wear. 80% of the original silver plate remains over the brass frame, and is uncleaned/has tarnished from age. I chose to leave it as is rather than clean it, gives it a good old look. Bores are good with sharp rifling and typical light black powder fouling. Hammer has positive clicks on both notches. Rotating firing pin works as is should and the hammer spring is strong. Better than average little Sharps pepperbox that would make a great addition to any Civil War era firearm collection.
