Description:
Colt 1851 Navy, Early Third Model, Made in 1852, All Matching Numbers on the grip, trigger guard, frame, barrel, cylinder, arbor, wedge and ramrod, serial # 12724, caliber 36 percussion. This old girls saw some use as the blue/case hardened finish is just about all gone, replaced by a light patina with darker patina on the hammer and frame. Some light surface pitting appears in spots. Cylinder scene is light, about 10% visible. Bore is average, good rifling but typical black powder fouling. Grips show typical nicks and dings with a small loss by upper left receiver. Amazingly the revolver is still super tight with a strong hammer spring, solid lockup and perfect indexing, sharp clicks when rotating cylinder in the half-cock position. Barrel address on the standard 7.5" octagon barrel is completely clear. "Colts Patent" on frame shows some wear. Has correct "right side" ramrod screw typical of the early 1851 Navies. A solid example of the model and nice entry level collector since all of the numbers match.
