BRILLIANT MINT PEABODY OR PEABODY’S PATENT .50RF CAL. SADDLE RING CAVALRY CARBINE CIRCA 1860’s-70’s. 100% original and matching. Looks unfired and like it just came out of the packing crate. Manufactured by Providence Tool Company of Providence, Rhode Island. Stamped on the frame “PEABODY’S PAT./ JULY 22, 1862”. Brilliant with all the case colors and blue. Fully inspected with copious sub-inspector’s stamps on appropriate parts and a crisp inspector’s cartouche on the stock wrist. Wood with all the original finish. Old brass collection tag on butt numbered “138”. Mint bore and perfect working order. Exceptional example.
