Early war issue and only 892 made by Lindner of Manchester, New Hampshire. 20” round .58 caliber barrel. Rotating breech block stamped “EDWARD LINDNER’S/PATENT/MARCH 29, 1859”. All original and fine example with very crisp metal having a nice grey patina and fine markings. Correct U.S. Ordnance inspection stamps on various parts and an excellent Ordnance Inspector’s cartouche stamped on the heal of the butt stock. Wood with the original finish. Perfect working order and excellent bore. 391 issued to the 1st Michigan U.S. Volunteer Cavalry and 501 issued to the 8th West Virginia U.S. Mounted Rifles.
