Up for grabs is a beautiful custom F.A. Meanea 1880’s style western saddle handcrafted by G. D’ Ambrose, Custom Saddles in beautiful Tombstone, Arizona. Geno D’Ambrose is a gentleman in every sense of the word, and his custom handmade saddles are exquisite bar none. This was a custom order 1/2 seat saddle made or patterned after F.A. Meanea’s Territorial Saddle No. 10. I was looking for an exact replica of that saddle, No. 10 to include the border tooling. See attached picture of an original F.A. Meanea saddle circa 1880. Like all custom order saddles it took almost a year to make but was well worth the wait. Unfortunately shortly after I placed the order, I decided to make some life changes and move out of California which meant thinning down my collection of saddles. I have mixed emotions about selling this saddle but at the end of the day I know have to thin the heard to make this move. It absolutely pains me to sell this saddle! I’ve owned a lot of custom made saddles over the years, and bar none this is one of the best I’ve had the pleasure to own. Even if your not looking to purchase a high end custom saddle, I would strongly recommend Geno D'Ambrose for other authentic period tack and accouterments. I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.
Now down to the nuts and bolts: Built to fit a modern day Quarter Horse (full quarter horse bars) with a 15 1/2” seat. I’m 5’10 about 160 pounds and the saddle fits me perfectly. This saddle is in brand-new condition never used. Well maybe just once to see how it looked on my horse. LOL I’m not going to spend a lot of time describing the saddle because I believe a picture is worth a thousand words. There’s a lot of information online describing F.A. $4,000.00 shipped and you don’t have to wait a year to have one made. It is priced to sell because similar saddles by reputable saddle makers range from about $5k to 6K. If your looking for an authentic western 1880’s style saddle don’t settle for less.
