18th Century FLINTLOCK Belt Pistol by RAMPINI
Ornate .50 Caliber Pistol from Northern Italy!
Here we present an antique Flintlock Belt Pistol by E. Rampini, made circa the 1760s in the northern region of what we call Italy today. This pistol is just the right size for carry on the belt with an overall length of 11-3/4 inches. This pistol is a cut above the standard everyman’s type of pistol featuring a barrel that transitions from octagonal to round about halfway with a banded motif at the transition and some engraving. The stock has nice grain and is lightly carved to accentuate the iron hardware. A decorative thumb plate, wire inlays and nicely styled finials round out this handsome 18th Century pistol. The lock is marked “E. RAMPINI”. Caliber is .50 caliber.
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a gray patina. The markings are clear. The bore is in great shape, clean and smooth. The stock is in good condition with an old repair just behind the muzzle. The action is excellent.
