Description:
This is a handsome sword that measures 25 1/8" overall with a 19 1/4" straight, leaf-shaped, double-edged blade with triple stopped fullers. The blade was lightly cleaned at some point, but has old, mottled freckling in patches along the edges, and around the borders of the fullers. The balance of the steel has a dark gray patina with visible cleaning marks, and a crisp Weyersberg “King’s Head" trademark on the ricasso. The cast hilt has a ruddy yellow patina with straight quillons, scaled grip (without visible rivets), and oblate pommel with American eagle. The original scabbard is included, and has fine original leather that has some minor flaking along the edges, and slightly scratched brass throat and chape. This is a fine Civil War import Artillery Sword, and would make a nice piece for display.
