Description:
Serial #C835, 16 Ga. (2 3/4"), 28" modified and full choked barrels with bright fine bores. The Length of pull is 14 1/8" with Drop at the heel of 2 3/4" and 1 3/4" at the comb. This “C" prefix, N.R. Davis & Sons ’PREMIER’ shogun was produced from 1927 to 1928 is a scarce version with only 2000 being produced and the Niles’ Guide to “Affordable" Double Barrel Shotguns does not mention them being produced in 16 Gauge. It was produced by the Davis Warner Arms Corp. in Norwich, Connecticut. The barrels retain 95% of the original blued finished with thinning toward the rib and in the mono bloc breech which also has several surface scratches and some freckling on the right tube. The frame has vibrant case color remaining which is thinning in less protected areas with mild freckling on the right side. The walnut pistol grip stock and forend have several minor blemishes and handling marks with several very fine hairline cracks running with the grain starting where the wood meets the receiver. The lock up is tight and the lever rests in the center. This is a scarce model from a classic hardware store shotgun maker that was very well cared for and very hard to find in this condition.
