This unique pistol has the sliding barrel and cylinder to facilatate easy loading . This has tight lock up an no wobble in cylinder. the balance is perfect. I would think this would of been carried by a Pinkerton for protection. The bore shows shine and deep rifling which is remarkable for a revolver thats 140 years old.The finish is 88% Nickle with minimal loss it does show staining in the receiver area this gives the revolver a pleasing ambiance so you know this is old. The back strap is shows no nickle is bare metal from acids an salt in the human hand. The dog head grips are just perfect no chips or cracks appear to be original to this revolver.. Ammo can still be purchased low volume Black powder at Bertrams or smokless has to be lighter load. Circa this beautiful peice of history is about 1870.
