Antique Allentown, PENNSYLVANIA Long Rifle by MOLL
Nice Full-Stock .32 Caliber Long Rifle!
Here we present an antique Full-Stock Pennsylvania Long Rifle by Moll, made circa 1850 in Allentown, Pennsylvania. This rifle was made by John Moll III or his son William of Allentown. The Molls were a gunmaking family in Lehigh County Pennsylvania from the mid-18th Century to the late-19th Century. They were known for their good quality.
This rifle features a double set trigger and a pistol grip style trigger guard. The stock goes all the way to the muzzle. The barrel is long, medium weight and octagonal with a .32 Caliber rifled bore. The name “MOLL” appears on the top barrel flat. The initials “*JL*” appear on the front of the trigger guard. The lock is marked “GODDARD/WARRANTED”. This rifle has aged very well and would still be a great rifle for squirrels and other small game!
The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a light gray patina. The markings are clear. The stock is in great shape. The bore is clean with nice rifling. The action is excellent.
