Standard Products was the second smallest manufacturer of the famous World War 2 U.S. M1 Carbine. Standard Products only made a total of 247,160 carbines, a number which accounts for 4% of the total production. Standard Products M1 Carbines are sought-after today by collectors with all-original and untouched examples exceedingly rare. This Standard Products M1 Carbine is being offered for the 1st time since being acquired from the vet's family that brought it back with him. It is 100% correct and original in every way, it has not been altered by anyone since leaving the Standard Products factory in 1944. Even though it is a "one looker" and we knew it was all-original, we took it completely apart and made sure that all of the small parts were correct, which they were. As you can see from the pictures, the original parkerized finishes are beautiful and in excellent condition, and the factory blue finish on the flat bolt is also excellent. The bore in the original "Underwood 2/44" marked barrel is superb, bright and clean with sharp rifling and with no pitting, erosion, or visible imperfections. The original "S-HB" stock is just as cherry looking as the gun with a nice semi-gloss look to it and nice crisp cartouches. Both the handguard and stock are original and match near perfectly in color, and are free from any major wear or unsightly handling marks. The only negative on this gun is there is a crack at the front of the handguard that we glued from the inside to stabilize it, and a very small hairline surface crack just behind the recoil plate (it does not move or go down thru the wrist, only cosmetic). As you can see from the pictures of these areas, neither of these two cracks diminish the beauty of this M1 Carbine and are only visible under super-close inspection. All of the controls on this Standard Products M1 Carbine are in perfect working order, and the action is smooth and tight, locking into battery perfectly. This Standard Products carbine would shoot just as well today as the day it left the factory in early 1944. If you have been looking for a "centerpiece" type M1 Carbine for your collection here is your chance to be the first civilian owner outside of the vet's family of a scarce-in-any-condition Standard Products M1 Carbine that is beautiful and 100% original. It would be all but impossible to upgrade from this rare and sought-after carbine in any way.
