Here’s an opportunity to acquire a solid candidate for firearm restoration. This Winchester Model 1892 in .44-40 Win carries serial number 722511, dating it from 1913.
Metal Condition
This vintage lever action rifle’s receiver, 24″ barrel, full length magazine tube, forend cap and butt plate have all been polished down to the white by its previous owner. Some surface rust has appeared since. The hammer, lever, and trigger underwent a chemical case color treatment at some point. Bore is good. Sights are period-correct.
Wood Condition
The 1892’s furniture has been refinished at some point by the previous owner. Shows some oil staining and a fair amount of handling marks.
