Deluxe Henry Gold-Washed & Engraved Rifle
  • .44 Henry rimfire
  • 24" barrel
  • Made March of 1863
  • Beaded scrollwork, border motifs, running deer and hound panel scene engraving done by Samuel J. Hoggson
  • Gold-wash finish rank among the most rare and desirable of decorated American firearms
  • Gold-wash and engraving features are known to be on historic rifles such as serial number 6 which was presented to President Abraham Lincoln as well as serial number 1 presented to Edwin Stanton the secretary of war at the time
  • It is noted in the Winchester Engraving Book by B. Tyler Henry that there are 7 Henry rifles with gold-wash finish and engraved. These are #1, 6, 1570, 2378, 7129, and Briggs-Henry serial number 1. The book was written prior to the discovery of this rifle which fits in the serial number range of the gold-wash & engraved Henry rifles
  • Arnold M. Chernoffs exciting discovery of the factory engraved and gold-washed Henry rifle frame No. 2093 was augmented by addition of a rosewood stock, a barrel, and magazine assembly, and remaining parts by Master Artisan Del Zoronado in the 1970s using original parts from Winchester thus creating a deluxe Henry rifle to celebrate and complement the authentic and extremely rare frame
  • Includes letter with R.L. Wilson's signature and seal of authenticity
  • Winchester letter from Pauline Muerrle stating this is definitely factory engraved, J. Hoggson was doing most of the engraving at that time and that this is an excellent example of an engraved Henry rifle
  • Loading tube spring and action is outstanding
  • Stock has very minor handling marks but retains much of original finish with no splits, checks, or missing wood
  • Wood to metal fit is outstanding
  • Rifle appears fired very little
