Description:
The Beretta Model 1934 is a blow-back operated semi-automatic pistol chambered in 9mm Corto (.380 ACP) with a 7 round detachable single stack magazine.  It was adopted by the Italian Military in 1934 and was the Italian Army's main sidearm of World War 2.  The Germans's purchased these from the Italians during the war, as well as captured a number of them when Italy faltered.  The Beretta Model 1934 proved itself to be an excellent weapon, simple but well-made and reliable.  After the end of WW2 the Beretta firm started producing commerical models of the 1934 for sale both in Italy and all over the world.  Beretta ended up producing over a million of these pistols during the total combined production run from 1934 to 1992.  This particular example was manufactured in the 1960's, and is a really beautiful pistol in excellent condition.  This Beretta is a bit of a mystery though, as the references we have and an online search shows no factory nickel finish guns.  This pistol was either a special order or it has been nickel plated after leaving the factory.  All of the flaws we typically look for to identify an aftermarket nickel plating job are non-existent on this Beretta.  If it is not a factory nickel finish, whomever did the plating job was extremely good.  There is no pitting visible under the plating, the sharp corners and edges on the gun are not rounded, and all of the factory stampings look excellent.  This Model 1934 has some beautiful gloss-blue finished small parts and black checkered plastic grips that give the gun some very attractive contrast.  The bore in this Beretta looks like-new and unfired.  There is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible, and the rifling has nice sharp lands and grooves throughout.  The original factory grips are in excellent condition as well, free from any cracks, chips, wear, or repairs.  The face of the slide and the internal parts in this gun are just as clean as the exterior, and show no mechanical wear whatsoever.  The slide-to-frame fit is precise and tight without any slop, and the controls on this pistol are crisp.  If this Model 1934 has had more than a magazine or two fired thru it during it's entire life we would be surprised.  We have no doubt that this Beretta would shoot just as well and be just as reliable today as it did when it left Italy in the 1960's.  This vintage nickel-plated Beretta Model 1934 .380 ACP pistol would be an excellent addition to any gun collection, and would make an interesting and classy concealed carry gun as well.
