Description:
Here is a High Art German Cape or Combination Gun in 16 gauge x 8MM German Mauser. This gun features well executed deep game scene engraving and highly figured wood. Rifle caliber is 8MM German Mauser or 8 x 57. The rifle bore is .323, proofed for steel jacketed bullets (STMG). Shotgun barrel is 16 gauge with 2 1/2" Chamber as original. Both rifle and shotgun bores are in perfect conditon. Mechanically the gun is outstanding with double underbolting system and a Kersten 3rd fastener. Well functioning set trigger. Tight on face. No loose ribs. Very interesting spring loaded cartridge trap. Push the button and trap door opens for quick reloading. Gun has had light hunting use and most likely a stock refinish at some point in its 90 year life. The claw mounting system was added at later date as the makers name has been obsured by its installtion. The claw system is correct and appears to have been done in Germany. Weight of the gun is 6 LBS 15 3/4 OZ. LOP is 14 1/4". Prior owner was kind enough to include his loading recipe for the rifle cartridges, which he affirmed 1" groups at 100 yards. Shipping is $40.
