This pistol is a first year production of the third generation single action army's. It was made in 1980. Serial number is SA40550. These very early Sheriffs Models were only chambered for the 44 W.C.F. or 44-40 Winchester. The dual cylinder models came out latter. This pistol came from the custom shop. The color cased finish is colorful and vivid. The bluing is deep and rich looking. The Ivory grips are the two piece style having the Colt Custom Shop logo medallions rather than the standard Rampant Colt. The grips have the rich cream color of the Ivory that you want to see. The grips fit perfectly as you would expect with no shrinkage. This pistol is in unfired condition having a correct miss serial numbered box. The party we purchased this Colt from had two pistols. When they sold the other Colt, They shipped it with the wrong box. This is a really stunning looking Colt! This pistol would be a real standout in any collection! Having a Pistol from the Colt Custom Shop is another nice "plus" for this Sheriffs Model. The box that is displayed with this Colt is the custom shop box for the other sheriff's model pistol with ivory grips. Still, it is nice to have a correct box and papers for this Colt.
