Description:
Here's a beautiful and scarce Winchester 70 Super Grade in .257 Roberts. S/N 374xxx with matching number bolt produced in 1956. The rifle is in superb condition showing 98% or better Blue and Varnish overall. The barrel is 24" with excellent bore and wearing a ramped Redfield full-length gold bead front sight. Floor plate is stamped SUPER GRADE. This is an interesting rifle which was apparently assembled during the Super Grade changeover period about 1955. The receiver/bolt are dated 1956 with a 1954 barrel which was a very common occurrence throughout production. However, the barrel has the factory rust blued finish which began showing up regularly in 1955, yet does not have the letters SUPER on underside of barrel, nor are the action components jeweled, as were most after '55. The rifle appears legitimate to me, and the fit between wood and metal is precise.
The original SG swivels are included.
