RARE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 EXTRA LIGHTWEIGHT .45-70 CAL. RIFLE CIRCA 1907(SHIPPED 1909) WITH SPECIAL ORDER FEATURES AND FACTORY LETTER. All matching in the 144,xxx range for 1907 production. 22” factory extra light weight tapered “pencil” thin barrel stamped “NICKEL STEEL” with correct Winchester patents and address having rear sight specified in the letter as 3" closer to muzzle and factory post and blade front sight. Top breech of barrel stamped “.450-2000” the Canadian designation for the .45-70 cartridge in it’s “smokeless” form. No British proofs. Factory "four round" special order magazine as specified in factory letter. Original stock and forend with original Winchester logo hard rubber butt plate(also mentioned in lttr). Very good to fine overall with 90% blue on the barrel and tube. Frame a grey crisp patina with traces of blue. Stock and forend with old coat of varnish but excellent otherwise. Perfect working order and excellent bright bore with very sharp rifling. Weight 6 lbs. 14 ozs. Rare original Winchester 1886 Extra Lightweight in the most desirable caliber. Also rare in the fact that it letters after 1906(records seem to run out after that). Letter on way from Cody.
