Description:
The Webley Mark VI (6) Service revolver was introduced in 1915 and remained in production at the Webley & Scott Ltd. firm in Birmingham, England until 1919 or 1920.  The Mark 6 Service Revolver was a single/double action 6-shot revolver chambered for the .455 Webley cartridge that was built for British Military use.  This top-break revolver came with black checkered hard rubber grips and typically had a 6" inch barrel.  It served the British Military well thru World War 1, and even served to a lessor degree in World War 2.  The Webley Mark VI proved to be a very well-made revolver that was both rugged and extremely reliable, and while not designed to shoot accurately at long range, was sufficiently accurate at shorter ranges and very deadly with it's .455 Webley chambering.  This particular example is scarce and unique in that it has a factory 4" inch barrel, very uncommon for this model.  It is also 100% original and has not been modified to fire .45 ACP cartridges like most of these Webley's that we encounter.  As you can see from the pictures, the original "military" blue finish has turned to a gray patina in spots, and the gun shows some very light shallow pitting from prior surface rust.  Despite the finish wear, this Webley is attractive and has a great combat-used look to it.  All of the factory stampings and proofs are still nice and legible, including the Webley & Scott trademarked "flying bullet" on the lower left side of the frame.  This Webley is import marked by "Inter-American", however they placed the small import mark on the inside of the frame where it is only visible with the revolver broken-open (close-up pic provided).  The bore in this Mark VI is really amazing, it has obviously been well cared-for over the years and is still mirror-bright.  The rifling is still sharp and prominent, and there is no pitting, erosion, or imperfections visible.  The 6 cylinder bores are equally as clean.  The original grips on this gun are in excellent condition overall.  Outside of some very minor wear maybe to the tops of the checkering the grips look great and are completely free from any cracks, chips, or repairs.  The grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the frame with no wiggle in either side.  The action on this Webley is absolutely perfect.  It is perfectly "in time" whether operated in single or double action, regardless of whether it is worked fast or slow.  At full-lock the cylinder is perfectly rock-solid with no discernible play in it whatsoever.  All of the controls on this gun are in perfect working order, including the automatic ejector, and the action hinge and action lock are in perfect condition.  We have no doubt that this Webley Mark VI would function and fire just as well today as it did the day it left the factory!  If you have been looking for a unique and interesting new addition to your military firearms collection, this all-original and scarce 4" inch Webley Mark VI would be an excellent choice.  With several commercial ammunition companies making .455 Webley ammunition today, this Mark VI could be enjoyed at the range or farm in addition to being displayed as an investment.
