Shipped in 1893, this 4 3/4 inch barrel .38/40 revolver is a rare example of a Colt factory worker's error. The frame serial number is stamped 149461 and the trigger guard and back-strap are stamped 159461, one number off. While not unique, mistakes like this are seldom seen, and add a certain amount of interest to the gun. This gun has been well used, but still works perfectly. The bore is fair and all parts, including the grips, are original to the date of manufacture. Since a .38/40 or .38 W.C.F. bullet is actually .41 of an inch in diameter, the bottom of the barrel is correctly stamped ".41". This is a nice honest, 100% correct, antique Single Action Colt.
