Description:
General Specs: L.C. Smith, Year 1931, 12 Gauge, #1=8lbs 6oz; #2=8lbs 8oz, Chokes F/IM; M/IC
Serial Number: RE135197

L.C. Smith made some fabulous guns, and those that enjoy shooting and collecting these guns should take note on this one!  THIS IS ONE OF THE RAREST OFFERINGS YOU WILL EVER SEE, AS IT IS THE ONLY SKEET SPECIAL LONG RANGE EVER MADE, AS DOCUMENTED BY THE L.C. SMITH GUN COLLECTORS LETTER.  ADDITIONALLY, THIS IS ONE OF ONLY 141 MADE WITH 30” BARRELS.  AND…IT IS A FACTORY TWO BARREL SET!  It just can’t get any better unless it was a mint gun with the box, which it is not.  The L.C. Smith Skeet Special was made by Hunter Arms Co. between 1926 and 1948, building a total of only 545 Skeet Grade guns in 12-gauge chambering.  THIS GUN WAS SPECIAL ORDERED with 30” F/IM reversed choked (right barrel .036 constriction, left barrel .031 constriction) barrels with 3” CHAMBERS and stamped “LONG RANGE”, with factory ventilated rib, beavertail forend, double ivory beads, ejectors, Hunter One Trigger, on a regular frame, and a factory Hawkins pad.  There is a second set of 30” barrels added by the factory with 2 ¾” chambers, double ivory beads, ventilated rib, beavertail forend, choked M/IC (reversed chokes with right barrel .022 constriction, left barrel .007) serial numbered to the gun but not mentioned in the initial order.  It was not uncommon for a second set to be added at a later date.  We can safely say these were factory added as the vent rib, 30” barrels factory stamped “SKEET SPECIAL” would be impossible to find outside the factory, and the work is definitively factory.  I will guarantee that in writing, as I just did here.  We custom fit a fine canvas and leather case to this gun and two sets of barrels, complete with L.C. Smith trade label and all accessories.  The barrels and stocked action cannot move within the case and all wear spots are reinforced with leather.  This is a $950 “value added” case and accessories and a great way to transport, store, and show off your rare L.C. Smith Skeet Special.  This gun is the perfect gun for clay target games, including skeet, trap, five stand, and sporting clays.  A better waterfowler, long range pheasant, turkey, or dove gun you could not find with the Long Range barrels.  The second set of barrels gives you the versatility of a heavy twelve-gauge gun for less distant targets.  Look at the condition of this gun as well, ALL FACTORY ORIGINAL FINISHES, WITH 98% BARREL BLUE BOTH SETS, 75% CASE COLOR, AND 96% TRIGGER GUARD BLUE, MIRROR BORES, TIGHT ON HINGE AND BREECH FACE, PERFECT SCREWS AND CHECKERING, NO CRACKS OR REPAIRS…JUST FABULOUS!  The stock dimensions are very appealing as well.  This Elsie has it all…RARITY, CONDITION, AND VERY DESIRABLE FEATURES…THE PERFECT INVESTMENT GUN THAT YOU CAN ENJOY USING AS THE VALUE CONTINUES TO GROW.  Thanks for looking!
