Rare Springfield Model 1880 Trapdoor Rifle. With experimental triangular bayonet. Rare gun with only 1001 of these made. This gun has a rare experimental triangular captive ramrod bayonet. The military eventually went with a very similar system for the model 1888 guns with a round bayonet. Gun has very good original blue on barrel. Wood was refinished long ago. Very good condition. Scarce gun that one rarely sees.
