Description:
New York Engraved Colt 1851 Navy. Made in 1863. Gray patina on metal with spots of light pitting. Grips are old period one piece ivories. Action works well. Gun locks up tight. This gun was definitely engraved during the period of use, but the quality of the engraving is not as good as you find on some guns. We called it New York, since it is not factory, but this could just as easily been done in Mexico.
