Most double gun enthusiasts are aware of the reputation earned by the Winchester Model 21; a gun of far superior strength and mechanical genius that was under the micro management of John Olin himself. Model 21's are fully capable of shooting the most powerful loads available, SO IF YOU LIKE MAGNUM LOADS FOR PHEASANTS, DUCKS, OR OTHER TOUGH GAME, THIS IS YOUR GUN.  With only 32,000 produced (compared to 250,000 Parkers!), any high condition Model 21 is a valuable, investment quality firearm sure to appreciate as you enjoy its use.  The holy grail for the Model 21 collector/shooter is a special-order gun with options not often found, especially factory engraved guns that are documented by the Cody Firearms Museum.  This Pre-war Model 21, sn16410 built in 1940, is one of these “holy grails”.  Fully documented by the Cody Firearms Museum (copy of the letter comes with the gun), she is factory engraved by George Ulrich in the #4 pattern of engraving.  Ulrich was one of Winchester’s most noted engravers and the only master engraver doing the high-end guns in 1940.  The gun was also ordered as a factory two-barrel set, a 26” WS1/WS2 choked set, and the other a very desirable and hard to find 30” F/F with FACTORY 3” CHAMBERS.  Most every 2-barrel set you see for sale is a “composed two-barrel set”, meaning it was not shipped that way from the factory, rather the second set was added to the gun at a later date.  FACTORY 2 BARREL SETS ARE QUITE RARE AND DESIRABLE, as well as quite versatile.  The factory 3-inch chamber will handle the heaviest 3” magnum loads available today, as the M21 was built to take the heavy stuff.  The gun is in original, untouched factory condition and has been used in the field but well cared for.  The chokes, bore diameters, stock dimensions, and even the sights are all the same as specified in the factory letter.  The engraving is sharp and clear, deeply chiseled and very attractive.  There is a small amount of carry wear on the receiver.  The mechanics are excellent, and this is a VFI CERTIFIED GUN, having been stripped, inspected, cleaned, and lubricated, and now carries a 90-day mechanical warranty.  The bores are bright without pits, the ribs are tight, the barrels are tight on the breech face, the screws are perfect, checkering still strong, no cracks or repairs.  This gun was ordered with a splinter forend and was most likely a field gun.  The gun is cased in the original Brady case from England, which was Winchester supplied for 2-barrel sets.  This is a rare opportunity to own a very rare and useful Winchester Model 21 that is adorned with nicely detailed engraving, and for a very affordable price.  Ulrich only engraved about 200 guns in all patterns during his 16 years at Winchester, which indicates just how rare this gun is.  Thanks for looking!
