Francotte Bte, a Liege: A Francotte 475 No. 2 Nitro Express Double Rifle Made in 1925, This Pre-War Quality Boxlock comes with 25" Ejector Dovetail lump barrels, Rib extension crossbolt, 1/4 rib with 1 standing fixed sight, Double triggers, It has 4 retainer screws on key screws, Anson frontal forend release, 14 3/4" LOP over a 7/8" pad with a leather face, 9 lbs. 12 oz., The wood is as solid as it was 94 years ago, No sling eyes, Shadowline cheekpiece, Original beavertail forend, Horn grip cap, It has 90% coverage of period scroll engraving, The barrels have been reblacked and now at 95%, The stock finish is original and it is 80%, The checkering is at 97%, The bores are excellent and almost excellent plus, It is smack on the face, This piece has proven accuracy with proper handloads using 83.5 grains of IMR 3031, 1/2" of over powder foam, Woodleigh bullets and it will shoot 1 3/4" groups at 40 yards. This piece is a nice quality Belgium double from the Golden Era of gunmaking by the great firm of Francotte. This gun has serious hunting/shooting written all over it and would fit the game fields all over Africa and anywhere in the U. S. The 475 #2 is one of the great big game cartridges with the lowest pressure in the big bores, thick rim, heavy brass to reduce expansion for easy extraction, 3 1/2" case and you will have the longest cartridges in camp.
