Description:
SOLD This is a very unusual Colt SAA in 2 different ways. First, the Rampant Colt on the side of the frame is upside down! This is discussed in Kopec, Graham & Moore’s “A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver” on page 125. Second, the serial number is after the accepted cut-off date for 1898, but you can see from the Colt Archive letter that it shipped on December 23rd, 1898 to Lee, Clark, Andersen in Omaha, Nebraska. The Archive letter confirms its current configuration of .38/40 caliber with a 4 3/4” barrel and nickel finish. The letter lists rubber grips were on it originally but it has a beautiful pair of antique pearl grips with a couple of small chips on a couple of corners. They fir well but not perfect. This gun is serial number 182349 and matches on the frame, triggerguard and backstrap. The action functions flawlessly and the bore is very good. All of the factory applied markings are clear and sharp. Price includes insurance and shipping to the contiguous United States where allowed by law. A three day inspection is offered with full refund if returned unfired in same condition. Buyer pays return shipping. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more photos.
