Description:
The Winchester Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbines and Rifle was made from 1894 to 2006, with approximately 5,000,000 manufactured. The Saddle Ring Carbines were fitted with a 20 inch round barrel, full length tube magazine, frame mounted saddle ring, open sights, and chambered in several calibers with the 30-30- W.C.F. being the most popular. This 1917 vintage Model 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine is as described and is chambered in .30-30 WCF. The gun is in excellent original condition, with the barrel and tube magazine retaining 95% of their original blue finish and the frame approximately 75% of its original finish, with most loss due to honest wear at the balance point. The lever retains 80% of its original blue, the hammer about 95%, and the butt-plate approximately 90%. The bore is in excellent condition, is bright with sharp rifling and showing only some very light frosting, and the action is tight and functions perfectly. The stock and forearm retain most all of their original finshes, with assorted handling marks, more so on the stock. The sights are in excellent condition, with the rear functioning like new. The screw heads are un-molested, including the very small rear sight screw. Due to the high nickel content of Pre-War Winchesters, the blue finish on the receivers are known to flake off over time. Saddle Ring Carbines are difficult to find with this must finish remaining on the receiver. A very nice and honest Pre-War Winchester 1894 Saddle Ring Carbine.
