Description:
This is an original 1864 Ames, Chicopee,Mass Artillery sword and scabbard. The original leather grip, with a tiny bit of wear, the grip wire is intact, end needs to be reattached. Thr brass hand guard and pommel , are a beautiful brown patina. The double ring steel scabbard is ingood condition, with a very very tiny dent that effects nothing. The original leather washer is intact and in very good condition ,between the sword and scabbard. You can still find calvary and  officers swords, the rarer are the artillery, not as many and not in the condition, blade is bright and minty. The AMES marker mark is light ,but the date and the inspector marks are extremly clear , C.E.W. is the inspector on this one CHARLES E. WILSON , inspected from 1846-1865.
