Description:
Manufactured in 1862, this 6-shot .31 caliber Pocket Model falls in the same serial range as other known 6-shot variants. It is in excellent original condition, with the exception of the re-blued cylinder. We believe that the cylinder cracked due to the thinness of the chamber wall, was repaired by relining that chamber and was then reblued. The gun, serial # 204xxx retains 80% original barrel blue, 70% color case-hardening on the frame, hammer, and rammer, and nearly 100% silver and varnish on the grips and straps. Interestingly, the two line Hartford address is one of those showing the broken die stamp, with th "L" on COLT, resembling an "I". These 6-shot variations are considered rare, the total number not known, but estimated at only a few thousand of the 340,000 manufactured, perhaps only one or two percent.
