J. Purdey & Sons --- Sidelock Ejector --- 12 Gauge, 2 3/4" Chambers. Original 25" SxS chopper-lump barrels with smooth concave rib choked light improved cylinder and light modified, nitro proved for 1 1/8oz with chambers opened to 2 3/4". Later 28" SxS dovetail-lump barrels with smooth concave rib choked improved cylinder & modified and London proved in 1989 for 2 3/4" cartridges. 14" pull from front trigger to checkered wood butt. 1 1/2" - 2 1/4" drop. 3/8" cast-on. Highly figured walnut stocks by Paul Hodgins with Anson-release splinter forend, straight English grip, classic point-pattern checkering with mullered borders, teardrops, and gold oval with intertwined script initials CFG. Acanthus scroll engraved receiver with bushed firing pins, cocking indicators, automatic top tang safety with SAFE inlaid in gold. Weight: 6lbs, 6oz with 28" barrels; 6lbs, even, with 25" barrels. Built 1904. 99%barrel blue, 80% casehardening colors. In modern oak & leather trunk case with snap caps, oil and striker bottles, two horn-handled turnscrews and brush, cleaning rod and maker's label.
