Description:
FINE ENGLISH BOXLOCK LOVERS AND STEEL AND LEAD SHOT SHOOTERS ATTENTION! YOU CAN SHOOT BOTH LEAD AND STEEL IN THIS SIDE BY SIDE! The fine Webley & Scott 12 gauge side-by-side we are selling today is in excellent condition. It is one of the higher grades of Webley’s 700 series with a scroll engraved, case colored receiver, very nice wood with a straight English grip, a checkered butt and beautifully finished blued 26 inch barrels. To top it off, it comes with 6 Briley screw-In chokes making the barrels safe to shoot with both steel and lead shot, including steel and lead full choke. To have this work done by Briley cost nearly $1000. The chokes are flush, retaining the classic look of a British game gun. The chokes are as follow: 1. Steel – SK-1; Lead – Cyl. 2. Steel – Imp. Cyl; Lead – Sk-1. 3.Steel – Mod; Lead -Imp. Cyl, 4. Steel – Imp. Mod; Lead – Sk-2; 5. Steel – Full; Lead – Mod.6. Lead - Full. The chokes come in a nice sectioned plastic box that includes a choke wrench. The barrels are chambered for 2 ¾ inch loads and the flats contain all the standard Birmingham Proof House markings. The exterior of the tubes show no dings, dents or wear to the blue. The bores are mirror bright with no imperfections of any kind. The gun has automatic ejectors. It weighs just 6 pounds 8 ounces. The sides of the receiver and the standing breeches are decorated with very nice scrollwork and are color case hardened. The colors are deep with vivid hues although they look a little light in the photos due to a camera flash. The blued floorplate and triggerguard are also engraved. There is no wear to any of these parts. The toplever is well to the right of center, showing little wear. The gun has double triggers. The stock has a lots of figure and a straight grip. There is a blank gold initial oval set in the stock between the end of the trigger guard and the toe. There are a few light scratches from being used in the field, some of which may polish out. About all of the original oil finish remains and I would guess that the gun has seen very little use. The checkering of the wrist is perfect however the forend does have a few mashed diamonds which can easily be fixed by a good wood man. The length of pull is 14 5/8”. The drop at heel is 2 ¼”. The drop at comb is 1 1/8”. Most of us know of the damage steel shot can do to a fine side by side. With this beauty, thanks to Briley, you can shoot lead or steel.  Don’t miss out on this fine piece. Made in Great Britain, not Turkey, probably in the 1970s!
