This magnificent original Sheriff's Model was custom engraved by Ben Lane Jr. and his hand written letter accompanies the gun. This gun, shipped in 1887, came down through Ben's family and was originally purchased by his grandfather, W. G. Street. Ben states in his authentication document that it had been carried daily by his grandfather, and had very little finish remaining when he inherited it. Approximately 15 years ago, Ben decided to engrave this revolver in the C+ style of Cuno Helfricht. Cuno Helfricht was Colt's most famous Single Action engraver, and was with the company for over 40 years. Today, it is a beautifully restored 4" Sheriff's Model chambered in .45 L.C., with satin nickel finish and two-piece mother of pearl grips. It it an outstanding engraved Colt, worthy of the most discriminate of collectors.
