Description:
The Model 1907 Dryse was designed by the famous Louis Schmeisser in 1905-1906 and was in production by 1907.  The blow-back semi-automatic pistol has an unusual profile with large flats at the rear, and the cocking serrations located at the front of the slide.  The entire upper assembly pivots up forward with the push of a button located at the rear for access to the trigger group and for cleaning.  The M1907 Dryse is striker fired and features the exposed striker at the rear when cocked.  The Dryse was used widely during World War 1 by Austrian and German soldiers alike, and remained in service with Germany thru World War 2, particularly with officers.  At the end of WW2 a large number of these pistols were put into service with the Volkstrum (last-ditch German Peoples Army), and as a result many of these guns made their way to the States as war trophies with American soldiers.  This particular example is one of the last M1907 Dryse pistols made, a very scarce commerical model that lacks the usual model markings on the left flat and has angled cocking serrations.  It was built as a commerical model to be sold to civilians rather than military issue like most of the production run.  It is in excellent condition overall and has obviously been well cared-for over the years.  The original factory blue finish is in great shape, with only minor wear showing on the high edges and a few small areas of previous surface rust.  All of the factory stampings and proof marks are crisp and clean.  All of the numbered parts are matching and original.  The bore is in average to good condition, with nice strong rifle throughout and only some very minor pitting in the grooves in spots.  We have no doubt that it would still shoot just as accurately today as it did when it was new in 1915.  The original grips on this gun still look great.  They show very little wear and are solid except for one little crack on the backside of the left grip panel.  There is a close up picture provided that shows this crack, it does not go thru to the front of the grip panel.  All of the controls of this Dryse are in perfect working order.  The action is slick and precise and goes into battery with force.  The safety works perfectly, the trigger breaks nicely, and the action opens up perfectly as it was designed to.  It comes complete with the original factory 7-round magazine which is in great shape and in perfect working condition.  This is a very unique and scarce gun that would be a great addition to any gun collection.  It would be nearly impossible to upgrade from this all-original and clean example.
