Description:
Scarce Ruger Old Model Single Six .22 Magnum. This model was produced between 1959-1962 and featured a 6-1/2" barrel, blue finish, XR3 Frame, varnished wood grips and the left side of the frame is rollmarked "RUGER SINGLE-SIX WIN. . 22RF MAG. CAL." This particular example was made in 1961 and remains in very good condition. It was sent to Ruger in 1983 to have the hammer conversion installed along with having a factory .22 Long Rifle cylinder fit to the gun, and comes complete with the original factory box it was sent back in, the "new" factory-fit .22lr cylinder in a red felt pouch, all of the original hammer parts the factory replaced, and all of the paperwork including the owner's manuals and factory work order.  This Single Six is in perfect working order and retains the attractive original gloss blue factory finish which rates 95% +/-.  The only finish deductions come from some spots of previous surface rust on the top strap and some high edge wear in various places.  The bore and cylinder bores are in perfect condition, bright and clean.  The original grips are in excellent condition and free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major damage.  The black and silver Ruger medallions are in excellent shape on both sides.  The action is perfectly "in time" whether worked fast or slow, and the cylinder locks up tight.  We have no doubt that this Ruger would function just as well today as it did when it left the factory in 1961.  If you have been looking for one of these early Ruger Single Six pistols for your collection this scarce .22 Magnum marked model would be an excellent choice.
