Manufactured in 1860, just at the beginning of the Civil War, this 5 inch, .31 Cal. Colt Pocket Model is in almost unsued condition. It is one of the few full nickel plate Colt recolvers of the period, as the science of plating was just being perfected. The Colt Company did not yet have an in-house plating department, and used the Adams Plating Company for this work. This gun remains in excellent, original condition. It has all matching serial numbers, #179718, an excellent cylinder scene, a good bore, and is mechanically perfect. The varnish on the one piece wood grips is about 75% and the nickel finish is at least 95%. A very rare gun in this condition.
