Description:
An Antique French Military Model 1822 Percussion Service Pistol made at the St. Etienne Arsenal, circa. dated "1821" and "1859". 7 13/16" .69 cal. octagon-to-round iron barrel struck w/multiple Arsenal and inspector's marks, tang engraved; ' Mle 1822 bis '. Lock marked;  ' Mre Imp ale de  St Etienne', and, an inspector's stamp above. Regulation brass and iron furniture stamped w/multiple arsenal and inspector's marks. Stock does not show any breaks or cracks. Many dings and scratches from years of handling, left side stamped; w/multiple arsenal and inspector's marks, and the round arsenal cartouche. All steel parts have areas of salt and pepper pitting.  Original ram rod. In good mechanical working order.
Note: These pistols were imported by the North and South in the first 2 years of the Civil War.
