This revolver was built in 1917 and retains about 85-90% of a very nice, armory-added blue finish that has some fading along the sides of the muzzle, along the exposed edges and projections, and has moderate turn-ring on the cylinder. Some further mild fading and freckling is present on the grip straps and in between the cylinder flutes. A crisp “C (Broad Arrow)" Canadian acceptance stamp is present on the left side of the frame ahead of the trigger, and a British stamp is present on the left at the rear of the topstrap. The hammer and trigger retain most of their original blue finish. The checkered hard rubber grips are in fine condition with only some mild flattening of the points. A small and unobtrusive import stamp is present on the underside of the barrel, and the lock-up is tight; the mechanism functioning flawlessly. The revolver is housed in a period, Canadian military flap holster by Hugh Carson Co. Ltd. of Ottowa, and is further unit stamped at the mouth: “1 HCB RCA / 27" (1st Heavy Cobourg Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery / Gun No. 27). The brown leather is in very good condition, heavily crazed, but still quite supple and serviceable. This is a splendid Canadian Artillery Colt, in very good-fine condition, and would make a great addition to any collection.
