The Colt Third Model Derringer (THUER Model) was made from 1875 to 1912, with approximately 45,000 manufactured. The single shot pistols were fitted with a side pivoting 2 1/2 inch barrel, varnished walnut grips, blue finished barrels, brass frames which were nickel or silver plated, spur trigger, and chambered in .41 R.F. or C.F.. This 1885 vintage Colt Third Model Derringer is as described, is fitted with pearl grips, is factory engraved (Nimscke), has a silver plated frame, and is chambered in .41 R.F.. It is in very fine original condition, with the barrel retaining 10% of its original blue finish, the rest having turned a grey patina. The "COLT" stamp on top of the barrel and the attractive engraving is sharp. The frame retains 20% of its original silver finish, with most of the silver finish in the engraving and hiden area in front of the frame. The attractive pearl grips fit well, with minimal chipping, and no cracks. The bore is shootable, with visible rifling, but some corrosion spotting. A very attractive and unique Colt Derringer.
